The Ashok Chakra

Respect. Respect and heartbreaking. The sight of their loved ones conferred the awards their faces tell a story. I hope we are quite able to take care of the loved ones of the martyrs everyday at a later date. To ensure that their sacrifice does not go down into annals into time.

11 Ashok Chakras were conferred by the president. All posthumous. I know i would remember a few names for eternity. Every year though brave ones lay their lives only for us to forget them and move on. For their families however it is their worlds that they lose and for every single one of them every day that we leave them behind is the go into oblivion. Their families move so too.

Even amongst the heroes there are so many unheard names. A Jojan Thomas or a an R.P. Deingdoh would always remain unknown to the greater. I hardly knew of them till today. Such a crying shame that the have been awarded the highest gallantry award for their services and i cant find pictures of a few online. Is that the respect they deserve. If the faces of the ones who laid down their lives aint seen how would i ever know the ones whom they left behind.

It is for us to remember their supreme scarifices and ensure that their loved ones are taken care of properly. That the sacrifices are always command the respect they deserve.

On a second note the public broadcaster should have known better. Every one who has made a presentation knows that when a photograph is enlarged beyond a certain size it gets distorted and pixelated. They should have known better than displaying frayed images on national network
