Been listening to this song... somehow all of paul brandt songs manage to strike a chord within me ... these are the lyrics to one of his songs which i simply adore...love it

When you're all alone in the dark
And it's hard not to be afraid
When your candle's losing it's spark
And it seems that you can't find your way
Look straight ahead, don't cry and don't look back
Leave your regrets behind you in the past
Run to me

I will always be
The hand you can hold when you're lonely and cold
I will warm you I adore you
You're always in my heart
No matter where you are
When it's love you need (Come to me)
Baby you can run to me

Nothing you ever say
And nothing you could ever do
Is gonna change the way
That I'll always be loving you
I'll be your sky, I'll be a soft place to fall
Baby this love is unconditional

When it's midnight on a winding road
And you don't know where you are or where to go
Through the rain, call my name,
And I will run to you

The Madman

Defeat, my Defeat, my solitude and my aloofness;
You are dearer to me than a thousand triumphs,
And sweeter to my heart than all worldglory.

Defeat, my Defeat, my self-knowledge and my defiance,
Through you I know that I am yet young and swift of foot
And not to be trapped by withering laurels.
And in you I have found aloneness
And the joy of being shunned and scorned.

Defeat, my Defeat, my shining sword and shield,
In your eyes I have read
That to be enthroned is to be enslaved,
And to be understood is to be levelled down,
And to be grasped is but to reach one's fulness
And like a ripe fruit to fall and be consumed.

Defeat, my Defeat, my bold companion,
You shall hear my songs and my cries and my silences,
And none but you shall speak to me of the beating of wings,
And urging of seas,
And of mountains that burn in the night,
And you alone shall climb my steep and rocky soul.

Defeat, my Defeat, my deathless courage,
You and I shall laugh together with the storm,
And together we shall dig graves for all that die in us,
And we shall stand in the sun with a will,
And we shall be dangerous.

The Thousandth Man
One man in a thousand, Solomon says,

Will stick more close than a brother.
And it's worth while seeking him half your days
If you find him before the other.
Nine hundred and ninety-nine depend
On what the world sees in you,
But the Thousandth man will stand your friend
With the whole round world agin you.

'Tis neither promise nor prayer nor show
Will settle the finding for 'ee.
Nine hundred and ninety-nine of 'em go By your looks, or your acts, or your glory.
But if he finds you and you find him.
The rest of the world don't matter;
For the Thousandth Man will sink or swim
With you in any water.

You can use his purse with no more talk
Than he uses yours for his spendings,
And laugh and meet in your daily walk
As though there had been no lendings.
Nine hundred and ninety-nine of 'em cal
l For silver and gold in their dealings;
But the Thousandth Man h's worth 'em all,
Because you can show him your feelings.

His wrong's your wrong, and his right's your right,
In season or out of season.
Stand up and back it in all men's sight --
With that for your only reason!
Nine hundred and ninety-nine can't bide
The shame or mocking or laughter,
But the Thousandth Man will stand by your side
To the gallows-foot -- and after!---

Having To Pick One Only

A company was hiring new staff. One question in the written exam
You are driving your car in a wild stormy night. You pass by a bus
station, and you see three people waiting for the bus: -

An old lady who looks as if she is about to die,
A doctor who had once saved your life,
A man/woman you have been dreaming to be with.

You can only take one passenger in your car. Which one will you
Please explain your answer
Think about it before you continue reading

This must be some kind of personality test. Every answer has its
You could pick up the old lady. She is going to die, and thus you
should save her first.

You could take the doctor, because he once
saved your life.

This will be the perfect chance to pay him back.
However, you could always pay the doctor back in the future, but you
may never be able to find the perfect lover once you pass this
The candidate who was eventually hired (out of 200 applicants) did
not have to explain his answer. WHAT DID HE SAY?

He simply answered: "Give the car key to the doctor. Let him take the
old lady to the hospital. I will stay and wait for the bus with the
man/woman of my dreams."
Sometimes, we would gain more if we were able to give up our
stubborn limitations.

the Indian Dental Association had organised a dental health care programme for the anganwadi healtcare workers.. i was asked whether i'd go for a week and lecture to these ppl ab8 taking care ab8 their teeth, thus i and a friend had to go to fringe villages close to nagpur-bhandara but with rains crashing down crazy the trip started on the wrong note
to make it worse i reached Nagpur on Tuesday after a 20 hour bus ride, 6 hours late and as such the first day lectures were postponed to a later date. i hoped things would ease out for me
but Mr Murphy was still in a benevolent mood , so the next day i had to lecture these 150 odd anganwadi ladies... and the slide projector refuses to cooperate ....somehow i managed to talk for 30 mins with out no visual aids...
the next day thankfully everything worked and i managed to talk for an hour without a hitch....
during the lecture i realized how the life out there in the villages is so many things that we take r for granted are prized out there
and as we were the for the dental awareness thing.. just realized that for a dentist these villagers had to travel at least 60kms...

somehow during the course of three days.. i developed a bond with the ppl who were helping me..harish, nagesh and atma kumar(pandit).. i was enamoured by pandit most of all... very straight guy from benaras out in mumbai to make a living...i was amazed to find innocence still alive...
on the last day we had to travel close to 160 kms away frm nagpur to lakhandur...3 hrs to and 3 hrs fro with a lecture of an hour and a half.. i was ready to leave for pune with all of them asking me and my friend to stay on and take care of the Nagpur leg too... i felt bad leaving but had to..
one week of crazy travel...loving and caring ppl all around... and two 20 hour bus ride.. and memories to remember... truly would remember the week for a lifetime-
life is not how many days we live... but how many days we make special for ourselves.. i had one special week
